Kantharuby Dance Acadamy The Natya Kalalayum / Kantharuby Dance Academy, has been in existence for the past 20 years and over under the guidance of Srimathi Kantharuby and Kumari Yshrene. The Academy offers tution for students interested in completing a course on Indian Classical Bharatha Natyam – North & South, Folk, Modern Bangra, Modern Western, Hip Hop Break & Music. Kantharuby & Kumari Yshrene had their training in India under great masters and they have spread their wings throughout Kwazulu-Natal. Kumari Yshrene was at the world famous college of fine arts KALAKSHETRA for 10 years. The Academy is a National Dance Academy with many teachers The present Highlight of the Academy is the FUSION DANCING which has received accolades from far and wide – The Highlight was when they represented the PROVINCE at the 2005 World Gold Panning Championships – Pilgrims Rest – Mpumalanga –attended by at least 20 COUNTRIES from around the world They represented the country in the 2005 World Gold Panning Championships – Pilgrims Rest – Mpumalanga – With Tribal Dancers in the Street Parade during the Opening Ceremony on the 19th September 2005. This parade was the "flagship" of the Championships televised and attended by VIP'S and participants from at least 20 COUNTRIES. The Academy is the founder of the Multi Cultural Dance Festival “IS’TIMELA”– which is an Annual Festival in Pietermaritzburg and this year marks its 8th year of existence. They have recently toured INDIA and have performed in 10 major cities of India to Standing Ovations and Housefull auditoriums under the banner of the ICCR New Delhi and South Africa. The month of April 2007 they appeared in Mauritius in the presence of the Prime Minister of Mauritius and they have also performed for the French Ambassador M D PIETTON AND MME PIETTON.. In November 2007 they performed again through some of the major cities in India. Kantharuby is on the Panel of Adjudicators for the Natal Tamil Vedic Society and has Adjudicated Nationally for this organisation.	See our Gallery
