Cato Manor Vibe!! A community outreach programme initiated by Fantastic Flying Fish Dance Company. The programme offers classes in contemporary dance to the young people of Cato Manor and other areas and produces an annual production, Indumezulu Yomdanso, each December.

Desiré Davids Known for her work with Boyzie Cekwana and The Playhouse Dance Company, Desiré is in the process of establishing JUNCTIONS (un)LIMITED Performance Company. The aim is to collaborate and exchange with fellow artists across all performing art disciplines and, in the process, explore, dissect and investigate the crossings of various cultures, traditions, perceptions and geographical borders.

Desiré is also available to present Improvisation workshops and to teach in Ballet and Contemporary dance styles.

Flatfoot Dance Company A professional contemporary dance company located in Durban that works to create socially conscious dance theatre. The training methods of the company are based on the techniques of Graham, Hawkins and Release, but access is also made into the rich dance language of traditional African (Zulu) dance and classical Indian dance.
Strongly supported by the Drama and Performance Studies Programme on the UKZN - Durban campus (where we are based), Flatfoot also has a training company of 24 dancers and a schools dance outreach programme.
Flatfoot also boasts youth dance projects in KwaMashu, Cleremont. Mboza, Ndumu and Umlazi, which are run by the Flatfoot dancers (and which have generously been supported by KZN DANCELINK and HIVOS). Flatfoot is supported by the National Arts Council of South Africa

The Natya Kalalayum /Kantharuby Dance Acadamy has been in existence for the past 20 years under the guidance of Srimathi Kantharuby and Kumari Yshrene. Both teachers trained in India under great Masters. Tuition includes Classical Bharatha Natyam and Kathak, Modern Eastern and Western, Folk and Fusion . A national organisation, performances include the 54th Republic Day Festival of India in the presence of the High Commissioner, Vice President and President of India, presentations in the presence of Thabo Mbeki, Nelson Mandela, and the 2005 World Gold Panning Championships televised and attended by 20 other countries from around the world. The Academy is the founder of the "Is'TIMELA" Dance Festival which has already enjoyed 8 years. In 2006 they toured India to full houses and standing ovations. In 2007 they toured Mauritius a nd performed in the presence of the Prime Minister, and India yet again - this time with a group of young children where they represented South Africa as Ambassadors at the Children’s Festival.

Kitsona's Kids “was formed in March 2005 with the aim of passing on what I have learnt to kids from 8 to 19. This Chesterville project is based in contemporary dance, zulu dance, gumboot dance and street dance (Spansula and ukubhenga), acting and music. We do life skills and workshops through dance and performance in order for us to look at and solve problems”

Linda Vargas Spanish Dance Company Many of the dancers in this Durban-based dance company are from the school of Flamenco which Linda Vargas also runs. Classes are available for anyone from beginners to advanced. Linda is an international examiner for Alianza Flamenca and offers courses to qualify as a teacher for Alianza Flamenca.

Manormani Dance Academy A dance school run by Manormani Govender, a Bharathu Natyam dancer and teacher who holds classes at the Umgeni Road temple

Mark Hawkins (Choreographer/ Director/ Teacher) Multi award-winning Mark Hawkins has been at the forefront of the arts and entertainment scene for more than 20 years. He performed as a Principal Dancer both in South Africa and abroad, in London Japan,Hong Kong and Iceland
As a founder and director of internationally acclaimed Fantastic Flying Fish Dance Company (FFFD), the former lead dancer is noted for the wealth of innovative choreography he has produced.
He has won unique distinction for the flair he brings to large scale productions, both in the theatre and on the events circuit.
He has choreographed small and large scale works, in a variety of styles, throughout South Africa and abroad. He is available for teaching or choreographic commissions.

Mary Ann Salvage School of Ballet A registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, Mary Ann teaches Classical Ballet classes in Glenwood and Morningside, from Pre-School Dance Curriculum up to Solo Seal level

Mhayise Productions A new performing arts production company, begun by Musa Hlatshwayo, Artistic Director, who received Dancer of the Year at the 2005 KZN DanceLink Durban Dance Awards. Mhayise specialises in contemporary dance choreography and performance. Other expertise includes participatory theatre and edutainment awareness campaigns. Minette de Klerk Dance Academy Was established in 1975 and runs training classes for children in classical ballet (Cecchetti method), modern and tap theatre dance (Imperial method) and Spanish dance. .
The academy offers internationally recognised examinations in all four facilities, either annually or bi-annually, as well as performance opportunities.
In 2006 the Academy relocated to Morningside.

Nateshwar Dance Company Based in Westville, the company focuses on Kathak (North Indian Classical Dance Form), Indian Folk Dances, Contemporary Bollywood Dances. Nateshwar Dance Company performed Chalo Cinema 3 at the Emperors Palace in Johannesburg in December. As always the performance was a sellout. This year 10 students of the academy performed their "Rangmanch Pravesh" (Kathak Dance Debut) at City Hall and Playhouse.
Classes are held Monday to Saturday at various venues throughout KZN. Special classes are held for women, girls and boys (all ages). New classes include Pietermaritzburg every Saturday f rom 10.15 am to 12.15 am and a Ladies Bollywood class in Westville every Friday from 6pm to 7pm.

Natya Mohini Dance Company The academy offers tuition in Indian classical dance (Bharata Natyam), Indian Folk, Modern and Contemporary Bollywood dance styles. Based in Verulam, it is run by Careshma Ramroop. With many national and international credits to their name, the academy focuses on individual attention, offering classes to all interested. Special classes are also held for those with special needs or disabilities.

Siwela Sonke Dance Theatre A professional Section 21 Company under the artistic directorship of Jay Pather, which specialises in contemporary dance theatre, contemporary African, inter-cultural and multi-media performance and collaborations across disciplines from video art to architecture, as well as site-specific works.
Under the directorship of Ntombi Gasa and Neliswa Rushualang, the company runs an extensive Community Development Programme in rural and urban communities from KwaMachai to KwaMashu.
Also under the direction of Pather and Gasa, the company specialises in custom-made performances for corporate functions and conferences.

Surialanga Dance Company As well as high level professional performance appearances, this intercultural dance company, with its main base in bharatha natyam, is involved in various development initiatives, including schools in Reservoir Hills and Phoenix, in collaboration with Stonebridge Cultural Movement, and classes with Durwest Senior Primary School.

Ubaya Dance Company Specialises in umbhaqanga, gumboot and contemporary mixed with township dance.
