THE KANTHARUBY DANCE ACADEMY has been in existence for 30 years under the
guidance of Srimathi Kantharuby and Yshrene who trained in India under great masters. They
have spread their wings throughout Kwazulu-Natal and Gauteng making them a National
Organisation having recently completed 10 years of Multi – Cultural Dance called the
“Is’timela Dance Festival” an annual event on their calendar.
They have received accolades from far and wide for their performances .They toured INDIA
twice, performing in 10 major cities - Jaipur Lucknow Shahjahan pur District Chennai and
Delhi under the banner of ICCR Delhi and Ryans International – Their performance
included the famous Sathyagraha – Salt March of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson
Mandela's Freedom struggle – and Rhythm of the Jungle – the Lion in Africa to standing
ovations and sold-out auditoriums. They performed in Mauritius in the presence of the Prime
Minister. They toured Zambia twice under the banner of the High Commision of India in Lusaka
for India’s 62nd Republic Day Festival which has given them overwhelming recognition by
Diplomats and Government Officials from around Africa. The Kantharuby Dance Academy
Members are international performers and their forte is African Indian Fusion – an amalgamation
of Indian Classical and Traditional African Ndlamu Dance.
