Mhayise Productions is an
internationally acclaimed project based performing arts initiative based
in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. The multi-award winning Musa
Hlatshwayo founded this initiative an is the artistic director of the
company. The company specializes in creating and staging cutting edge
and socially conscious contemporary performing arts through the medium
of dance, theatre, multimedia and multidisciplinary site
specific/installation performances, innovative edutainment and
interactive or participatory campaigns. The company also facilitates
engaging workshops (for the public, arts festivals, schools and the
cooperate companies) in African Contemporary Dance, African Dance, Zulu
Traditional Dance, Gumboot Dance, Fusion, Afro-fusion, physical theatre,
creative movement and contact improvisation.
The company also fuses
Afrocentric (conventional and non-conventional) community participatory
theatre methodologies with forum, image, ambush, industrial and
invisible theatre. Mhayise Productions also has a resourceful database
of developing performing artists as it also mentors artists (both
nationally and internationally) specializing in poetry, music, community
theatre, dance and other performing arts genres.

Alice Street in Durban) every Saturday between 10 and 3pm.
