Imbumba 2010![]() To view more pictures - Click HERE It’s young, fresh, exciting and inspiring. Imbumba 2010 is a showcase for KZN’s very best youth dance theatre – a delightful dance journey that celebrates a vast range of styles and genres from classical Indian Kathak and fusion Afro-contemporary to hip-hop and traditional African Ngoma and Ndlamu. Presented by KZN DanceLink, in association with the National Lotteries Distribution Fund and The KZN Department of Arts and Culture, Imbumba 2010 explodes onto the Playhouse Drama Theatre stage for one performance only on Saturday November 6 at 2pm. The show features 14 new dance works choreographed by some of the province’s top artists, including Ntombi Gasa, Vusi Makanya, Linda Vargas, Kantharuby Munsamy, Sifiso Khumalo and Pravika Nandkishore, directed by Durban dance diva Lliane Loots. The young dancers – many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds – are the epitome of the utopian Rainbow Nation, a vibrant melting pot of culture and creativity. Their dedication, perseverance, energy and exceptional talent will make you laugh, cry, smile, sigh and wonder. Imbumba is one of KZN DanceLink’s development and outreach programmes. Having been put on hold last year due to funding issues, Imbumba is back thanks to three-year funding from the National Lotteries Board as well as a grant from the KZN Arts Council. "Imbumba is a showcase of DanceLink members' work - both youth and professional – which covers a vast range of dance, age groups, music and sophistication," said chairman Lynn Maree. "This year it will be coupled with a professional production, Bhakti, by acclaimed choreographer Lliane Loots featuring guest artists from KZN. There is no entrance fee for this performance.
